Els nanomaterials presenten propietats magn\u00e8tiques, el\u00e8ctriques, \u00f2ptiques, mec\u00e0niques i catal\u00edtiques molt diferents a l\u2019escala nano (entre 1 i 100 nm) respecte als seus hom\u00f2legs a l\u2019escala macro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant els \u00faltims anys, s\u2019han obert noves oportunitats de negoci gr\u00e0cies a les seves m\u00faltiples aplicacions, i es preveu que ens els pr\u00f2xims anys n\u2019apareguin d\u2019altres que encara desconeixem. Les nanopart\u00edcules es poden dissenyar per orientar els f\u00e0rmacs a c\u00e8l\u00b7lules o teixits espec\u00edfics, millorant-ne l\u2019efic\u00e0cia i reduint els efectes secundaris. Les t\u00e8cniques d&#8217;imatge a nanoescala tamb\u00e9 poden ajudar la detecci\u00f3 preco\u00e7 de malalties. En teragnosi, on es combina la ter\u00e0pia i la diagnosi, l\u2019\u00fas de nanopart\u00edcules permet fer un seguiment en temps real de l\u2019efic\u00e0cia del tractament. Les nanopart\u00edcules de di\u00f2xid de titani i d\u2019\u00f2xid de zinc s\u2019utilitzen per proporcionar protecci\u00f3 UV d\u2019ampli espectre en formulacions per la protecci\u00f3 solar. Aquestes s\u00f3n transparents i per tant, eviten la formaci\u00f3 de la capa blanca associada a l&#8217;aplicaci\u00f3 dels filtres solars minerals tradicionals. La nanotecnologia t\u00e9 aplicacions potencials en envasos d&#8217;aliments, augmentant-ne la vida \u00fatil i la seguretat mitjan\u00e7ant la incorporaci\u00f3 de nanopart\u00edcules antimicrobianes. Aix\u00f2 pot millorar l&#8217;efici\u00e8ncia dels recursos, reduir els impactes ambientals i augmentar el rendiment dels cultius. Per altra banda, els sistemes d\u2019alliberament a nanoescala poden millorar la biodisponibilitat i l\u2019alliberament dirigit de nutrients i compostos funcionals. Tot i aix\u00f2, la regulaci\u00f3 dels productes de nanotecnologia i el coneixement del seu potencial impacte sobre el medi ambient \u00e9s un proc\u00e9s en curs.
